I am hopeful.

I am hopeful that the world will change with me.
As I grow, I hope it grows,
As I learn, I hope it learns,
As I love, I hope it loves.

I have become understanding, 
Compassionate and fair,
I care.
I care about the little things.
The way you feel when I laugh.
The things that make me laugh.
The things that are meant to make me laugh;
"Is this actually funny?
Or is this just hurtful?"

Am I meant to laugh at your pain?

I prefer to sympathize with it,
Alleviate it.

I hope the world grows past me,
Learns more than I have,
Loves deeper than I have.
I hope the world can teach me to understand.

But I accept the truth about the world.
It is not a singular being.
It is composed of many.
Backgrounds differ,
Environments differ,
Experiences differ.

Therefore at times I will have to teach the world,
As I grow past it,
Learn more about it,
And love deeper in spite of it.
